So Sore but So Happy

Our entire family is so sore this morning. We spent the entire weekend helping to build the new dance studio. Brad has been helping with flooring designs for months, and when Stephanie got possession of the building on Thursday the real work began. Friday, we started building the floating floors. It meant sticking thousands of foam squares on the back of plywood sheets in both rooms. Once all the squares were stuck, we laid a second layer of plywood and then sanded that perfectly smooth before laying the Marley. It sounds like such an easy process, but we finally finished about 5pm yesterday.

Yesterday morning, when we were finally able to start rolling out the Marley, we realized the tape we had was no good. The adhesive was essentially on both sides. I put out as SOS to Liz, my theater friend, for a place to go buy some, and she just sent me to her house for four rolls. It was a lifesaver, and it allowed us to do this:
Stephanie was so excited to be on her very own studio floor.

Evan was the best little brother and helped all weekend, too:

We got to know some other dance dads better, and some dance families we have known for years joined us, too. We also started building front desk furniture and hanging accessories:
Paula and I will forever remember trying to assemble a terrible IKEA dresser for the front desk space.

We are all so tired and so sore and so very, very happy to watch this dream come to life.
