An Art Project and a Big Day

After school yesterday, the kids, Nana, and I embarked on a major art project:
Nana brought all of the supplies to make melted crayon art, and it was way fun. We started by breaking, unwrapping, and arranging lots of crayons. Then we moved on to the melting:
We learned some valuable lessons. Crayons splatter, but they don't burn:
Putting down newspaper might not have been a bad idea:
Children lose interest halfway through they second piece of art:
Thankfully, Nana stepped in to finish the art. This one is Issa's:

And Evan's second piece:
And the piece that is really Nana's:
 A close-up:
The last one was made from crayon shavings--pretty cool. It was a great project and a lot of fun! Now, we are trying to decide how to display them.

And this morning was a very big deal for this girl:
Her last day of kindergarten portrait. I can't believe I have a first grader. How did this happen?
