Harvest Festival

We had a fabulous time at our museum's harvest festival! Our day started at the picnic pavilion where we learned all about chickens and goats. The goats are part of a co-op that you can hire to come clear brush. We witnessed their prowess:
We then learned all about planting and harvesting, and we got to paint our own pot and plant some peas:

And...there were local vendors. There was a donut lady, cheese shop, and preservers. We picked up recipes, but we also picked up the best cheeses:

We had packed a picnic, but we supplemented with our new treasures. I did not eat this whole block of blue cheese, but oh did I want to.

Evan is proof how much we enjoyed the donuts:

At the main museum, we learned how to "harvest" wool and then turn it into yarn. Carding wool is serious business:

We also learned more about gardening, folk music, and hawks. The museum was gorgeous with fall color; I can think of no stronger argument for preserving wetlands than this:

Of course, we still had to visit our furry friends. The bears were pretty sleepy, but we seem to have a little bear of our own:

The wolves were playing hide and seek. Can you find him?

We also spent a little time exploring the new wind exhibits. We all tried our hands at aiming the air cannon to make the mirrors shimmer:

Issa had great aim, and so did Evan:

In fact, I was the only one who couldn't seem to make it work. Daddy also loved playing with the new vapor rings:

All in all, I would say it was a fabulous day!
